The QWERTY keyboard is the dominant keyboard for entering text, but not because it's the best. To someone just learning, keys on the QWERTY keyboard are hard to find as there is no obvious method of placement. As a standard per language, the alphanumeric keys have a fixed placement. The non-alphanumeric keys vary by region. The QWERTY keyboard also changes its alphanumeric character placement based on national language.
